Grand Island Central Catholic Preschool will open its doors for the 2024-2025 school year to educate our community's youngest children of God. This new preschool serves as the relocation and renaming of Blessed Sacrament Church's preschool. Preschool Director Barb Seier is eager to make the move. "It will be beneficial to have a new building with new classrooms, as well as camaraderie with other staff," she said. "It's also exciting we'll be creating a foundation for children to learn and grow in a Preschool-12th grade setting." The current preschool staff will make the transition to the new preschool site, and "Paraprofessionals will also need to be hired for some of the preschool classrooms," Seier added. Plans continue to progress on the construction of the project, as both the elementary and preschool will reside in an addition that's being built onto Grand Island Central Catholic's High School and Middle School structure. While the building is being completed, preschool staff are discussing the variety, number and format of preschool classes that will be offered. Those specifics will be announced at a later date. Current Blessed Sacrament Preschool families will have the first opportunity to enroll at Grand Island Central Catholic Preschool when the time comes. Families who are on the GICC Elementary/Preschool Waitlist will be contacted immediately after that. Preschool tuition rates are not yet set, but will be announced prior to the enrollment process. Seier has been an educator for more than 40 years. She received her Bachelor of Arts degrees in Elementary, Early Childhood and Gifted Educations. In addition, Seier earned two Masters degrees in Curriculum and Instructions, as well as Educational Leadership |
